Morinville conducted a census from April 1 through to June 30, 2016. Our population now stands at 9,893 which is a growth of 491 residents or a 5.23% increase over 2014. We have seen a 16% increase over the last 5 years and 46% increase in the last 10 years.
Morinville continues to reflect a younger community with a median age category of 25-34 years and 21% of our population in the 24-39 year old age group. Our largest growth was reflective in the 36-44 (187 more residents) and 55-64 (189 more residents) year age groups with an increase of 376 residents. This is a total of 23% of our population. Adults aged 25-54 make up 37.7% of our Town population and children under the age of 18 make up 23.46% of the population.
The split between male and female is almost equal with 1% more females at 43.2%.
We have 3,780 dwellings with 3,522 occupied. This is an increase of 137 occupied dwellings since 2014. The census report highlights Dwelling Status and Type, Dwellings by Zone and Ownership Status of Occupied Dwellings.
Employment figures found, out of those who provided a response, 23.6% of Morinville residents over the age of 18 work within Morinville limits. The largest location of employment for residents outside Morinville was found to be within the city of Edmonton limits at 33.1%.
2016 is the third census offering residents the option to input data online. We saw a 9% increase of users with 49% of the municipality completing their census online. This is an amazing stat for our Town!!
