Regular Meetings of Council

A Council meeting is the forum where all decisions that affect the governing of the community are made. It is during these meetings that Council makes motions and votes on resolutions, providing direction to Administration. Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Council meetings are open to the public, with a standard start time of 7:30 p.m. Please click here for the 2017 Council Calendar.

The Mayor, or Deputy Mayor in the absence of the Mayor, chairs all Council meetings, in accordance with Morinville's Procedural Bylaw 12/2009. For items not covered under the bylaw, Robert's Rules of Order apply.

Committee of the Whole

Committee of the Whole meetings are comprised of all Councillors and legislated to consider any matter; however, no formal decisions are made at Committee of the Whole. Decisions permitted include receipt of agenda reports for information, referral of matters to Administration or a Committee for review or make recommendations to Council.

Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month. Committee of the Whole meetings are open to the public, with a standard start time of 6:30 pm. 

The next Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for June 20, 2017 at St. Germain Place (10125 100 Ave.). Committee of the Whole Agenda packages will be posted no later than the Friday afternoon before the meeting and can be accessed to the right under Council Agenda packages.

Appearing Before Council

Council would like to involve residents of Morinville in the governance process and encourages all residents to share information and thoughts on issues affecting Morinville. It is recommended that you bring your concerns to Administration prior to requesting a delegation with Council. Administration may be able to provide a satisfied outcome by resolving your concern or answer your questions prior to meeting with Council. If you still wish to present before Council, the information provided by Administration may help in your preparations to speak before Council. Delegates are provided a maximum of 15 minutes to speak before Council and will be asked to provide a 1/2 page summary on their topic. The summary must be submitted at least one week in advance of the scheduled meeting.

Public Hearings

Morinville Town Council invites all residents to participate in public hearings regarding issues and decisions that may affect them or their community. Public hearings provide an opportunity for members of the public to speak with Council on various issues, such as (but not limited to) proposed planning and economic development matters. All public hearings start at 7:30 pm, unless otherwise  noted, and take place in Council Chambers at Town Hall.
