Community Services

  • Our Supervisor of Community Programming can meet with you to discuss your needs and the resources that may be available to fill them.  Some examples are food bank referrals, transit passes, recreation program subsidies, and employment and counselling programs.

Utility Service

1. How do I register for a Utility Service?

Please complete an application form for Water and Sewer services prior to your occupancy or possession date.  Required Information:
  • Name
  • Address moving from / to
  • Home phone number
  • Cell / Work phone number
  • Whether you are the owner or renter of this property
  • Mailing address for billing
  • Date to activate account (date of move in)
If you are renting, please provide one of the following:
  • A deposit of $200.00 kept for the duration of your residence
  • A co-signature from the home owner
2. What are the charges for water and sewer?

Water and sewer consumption may change during each billing cycle, and may vary from one household to another.
  1. Water: Consumption rate: $ 1.7352 per cubic meter.

    Flat fee:
    • There is a flat fee of $ 7.32 per customer per invoice.
    • There is a bi-monthly flat fee of $ 30.76 for a 5/8 inch meter, which is the size installed in the majority of single-family residential homes.
    • This fee is determined by the size of meter in your home or business.
The bi-monthly flat rates are as follows:

2. Sewer:  Consumption rate: .9691 per cubic meter.

Flat fee:

    • There is a flat fee of $ 5.63 customer fixed charge per invoice.
    • There is a bi-monthly flat fee of $ 29.94 for a 5/8 inch meter, which is the size installed in the majority of single-family residential homes.
    • This fee is determined by the size of meter in your home or business.

3. What are the optional ways of paying water utility bills?

Pay at Civic Plaza
  • When paying by cheque or money order, please make cheque payable to "Town of Morinville", record your account number on it and provide your remittance slip to cashier to ensure that your payment is properly recorded.
  • We offer Interac services.
  • Credit cards cannot be used to pay utility bills. 
  • "MAIL DROP OFF SLOT” is located in front of the building by the main doors.  Please include the remittance stub with your payment to ensure that your payment is properly recorded. (Do not deposit cash in mail slot.)
Civic Plaza is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (except holidays).

Pre-authorized Payment Plan
  • Your total utility payment will be withdrawn from your bank account just before the due date on the bill (January, March, May, July, September, November).
  • You are welcome to apply for this service at any time providing your account is at a current balance.
Your Financial Institution
  • Pay in person at most Morinville financial institutions (over the counter/through banking machine).
  • You can pay from the comfort of your own home by using telephone or internet banking services. 
  • Please keep in mind that these payments are not received automatically by the Town. Please allow three business days before the Penalty Date to ensure payments are received on time.

When paying by mail, please include the remittance stub with your payment to assure that your payment is properly recorded.

4. What are the current year’s property tax and assessment?

Annually, Town Council approves the Town of Morinville’s operating and capital budgets.  From the approved budget, the Town establishes a tax rate (mill rate) to be applied to property assessments.  In December, the 2009 Operating and Capital Budgets were approved.

2009 Estimated Property Taxes for an average residential property:

$293,000 assessed residential property:
2008 - $ 2,259 per year in taxes
2009 - $ 2,383 estimated per year in taxes
This represents a 5.5% increase year over year equivalent to $ 124.

** Each residential property will vary in property taxes depending on the property assessment value.
