Friendly Neighbour Tips!

If you have a Bylaw complaint, you have three options. You can make your complaint in person at the Morinville Town office at 10125 - 100 Avenue, or contact us at 780-939-4361 or online.

  • When you file your complaint, be prepared to provide your full name, address and phone number(s).  The personal information requested on this form is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Alberta Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act and will be used solely for the purpose of this program. Questions about collection of this information can be directed to the FOIP Coordinator at the above address.

The information provided should be as concise as possible. Please include the following in your description: The nature of the complaint, the names (if known) and address of those involved and the date(s), time(s), day(s) of the week and year the event or activity occurred.

  • When we receive the complaint, we will forward it on to our Peace Officers.
  • Complaints are responded to on a priority basis.
  • If you’ve located a lost pet we may, on occasion, ask for your assistance. If a Peace Officer is not available, we may ask you to keep the animal until an Officer is available, or take the animal to the Morinville Veterinary Clinic where lost animals are housed.
  • A Peace Officer is assigned to your complaint, and will take action accordingly. Insufficient evidence would result in no prosecution and a warning may be issued.
  • During the course of an investigation, you may be required to provide a written statement indicating what you’ve observed. You may also be asked if you would be willing to testify in court. In many cases, the Peace Officers DO NOT witness the infraction and in order to proceed with fines, YOU must be willing to act as that witness. If you are not willing to testify in court, a charge will not be laid and a written warning, may be issued.
  • At the conclusion of the investigation, the Peace Officer will contact you and advise of the final outcome.
