Animal Ownership Information

If your dog or cat has gone missing please contact Morinville Peace Officers by email or by calling the Town Office.  The Peace Officers may be able to locate your pet.  You may also view a listing of found animals at the Morinville Veterinary Clinic.  

Regulations you need to know:

The regulations for animal ownership are outlined in more detail in the Animal Control Bylaw.

  • All dogs, as defined in the bylaw, must be licensed by the Town of Morinville.
  • No dog or cat is permitted to run at large. All animals must be on a leash/lead or under the control of a responsible person.
  • An owner is not permitted to own MORE THAN (3) dogs requiring a license without a kennel license.
  • Infractions of these regulations may result in a fine(s), and/or your dog or cat being impounded. 

Dog Licenses: 

All dogs in Morinville must be registered for and wear a license tag.  Licenses are available at the Town of Morinville Office building.  The license must be obtained or renewed annually on or before February 1st.  A tag will immediately identify your dog if it is found at large.

  • Unaltered dog license - $30.00
  • Spayed/Neutered dog license - $20.00
  • Hobby/Kennel license - $50.00
  • Dog guides/seeing eye dog license - Free
  • Replacement Tag - $1.00
  • Restricted/Vicious Dog licence - $100
