Why does Morinville conduct a municipal census?
A municipal census is the most accurate method of gathering population data. With a large number of Federal and Provincial grant funding programs being population-based, a census ensures accurate representation and funding opportunity.
What type of questions are asked?
Census questions are designed to be quick, clearly understood, non-personal and consistent with previous census questions. Questions inlcude:
- Ownership of Residence
- Number of residents at dwelling
- Gender and Age of each Resident
- Employment and student status of each resident
- Employment location
How can I complete the census for my residence?
The census can be completed online with a secure pin which will be mailed to all residents in late April. Community computers will be available in the Civic Plaza and Morinville Public Library.
Enumerators will be visiting the homes in which an online census was not completed. This will be during the period of May 16 to June 3.
Why has Morinville developed an online option for the census?
An online option has been provided to residents to allow for increased efficiency, improved data quality and decreased costs.
What has been done to ensure the privacy and security of my information?
All responses are strictly confidential and will be used only to determine the number of residents in a household, including age, gender, employment or school status and employment location. Names are not collected. The online census form is contained on a secure server and a unique PIN number is necessary to access the census. Upon completion of the census, Morinville will store and then destroy all census information as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
What if I have difficulty or am not comfortable completing my census online?
Residents who are unable to complet the census online may phone Jennifer Maskoske at 780-939-4361 for assistance or wait for an enumerator to visit your home in peron between May 16 & June 3.
If I lose my PIN number, how do I complete my census?
If you lose your pin number, please contact Jennifer Maskoske at 780.939.4361 to advise your pin number has been lost and request a new pin.
Who will visit my residence during the door-to-door phase?
Enumerators will be active between 9 am to 9 pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 9 pm Sunday. Enumerators will be carrying photo identification.
