Safety Codes Permits & Inspections

The Alberta Safety Codes Act establishes codes and standards for construction and building safety within the Province.  The Act requires that when undertaking building construction projects, including renovations, safety codes permits must be obtained to confirm conformance with the in support of the construction.

The Town of Morinville has contracted The Inspections Group, Inc. to carry out the review and issuance of all safety codes permits within the Town, and to provide enforcement of Safety Codes Act as necessary.

All applications for Safety Codes Permits are coordinated by the Town in the Planning and Development Department. The following forms are to be used to apply for Safety Codes Permits within the Town:

To ensure the quickest possible processing times complete applications are required. As an example, a Building Permit Application requires the following information:

  • Application Form (above), complete with all required information
  • Development Permit Approval where required
  • Site Plan
  • Architectural Drawings (floor plans, elevations, cross-sections, roof truss, floor joist, and other structural drawings as required, etc.)
  • Landowner’s authorization (signed on Application or attached Applicant’s Authorization Form)
  • Fees payment (Fee Schedule)

It is typical that major projects will require the professional involvement of architects and/or engineers.
