Strategic and Business Plans

Council and Administration are committed to the future well-being and success of Morinville and its residents.  We will do this through:

  • Long-term and annual planning;
  • Projects focused on issues impacting the community;
  • Performance measurement and reporting; and,
  • Regular input from citizens.

Corporate Business Plan

While long term planning proceeds, there is still a need to address issues and opportunities currently impacting the Town.  The Town of Morinville 2010 - 2011 Business Plan is now complete and we encourage you to become familiar with the Plan as it will guide Town activities and services in 2010 and 2011.

Municipal Sustainability Plan

In 2009, Council embarked on the development of a Municipal Sustainability Plan (MSP), designed to provide strategic direction and a coordinated approach to Morinville’s sustainability.

The first stage in the development of the MSP was to engage citizen’s in actively contemplating a vision for what they want Morinville to become.  Many interested residents came together to share their thoughts, information and to articulate their desires for the kind of community they want Morinville to evolve into.  This was done by identifying a vision and six pillars for sustainability – economic, cultural, social, environmental, infrastructure, and governance; as well as several strategic objectives under each pillar.

The community input provided through the MSP engagement process also included action items to achieve the goals under each pillar.  The Town’s administration is using this document in the development of action plans and will report back to Council on a quarterly basis the status of these action items.  These steps will take place over the course of the next six months, with the goal being final completion and adoption of a Municipal Sustainability Plan by the end of 2010.  Please see the Municipal Sustainability Plan for further information.
