Morinville, Alta. – At a Special Meeting of Council held on Wednesday, June 30, Council directed Administration to implement an altered event plan for a Canada Day community gathering on July 1, 2021.
In light of recent events, Council felt it would better support the community to have a gathering where anyone wishing to could come together, visit and support their family, friends, neighbours, and community members.

Morinville, Alta. – As of 3 p.m. June 30, 2021, the Morinville Fire Department has issued a fire restriction for the Town of Morinville.
Due to extreme weather, low precipitation levels, and the possibility of extreme grass fires, Morinville Fire Department is asking all residents to exercise caution when using their approved/permitted fire pits. Fire destroys St. Jean Baptiste Church in Morinville

Morinville, AB – A 9-11- call was received at 3:08 a.m. this morning reporting a fire at the Roman Catholic Church in Morinville at 10034 100 Avenue. Time of dispatch was 3:10 a.m. with Morinville Fire Department crews arriving on scene at 3:20 a.m. Upon arrival, crews determined the fire was already well involved in the basement of the structure. Fire crews attempted to make entry, but the building was charged with smoke and collapse was already occurring.

Morinville revises events and activities for Canada Day
After consultation with Alexander First Nation, the Town of Morinville will be proceeding with a modified Canada Day celebration on July 1. Free Canada Day activities will be taking place at the Morinville Fish and Game Pond (100621 107 Street) and will include:
- The Morinville Fire Department Ladder Truck will be onsite from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for photo opportunities.
