We are aware of the green algae issue that is occurring at Sunshine Lake and thank residents for bringing forward their concerns. We continue monitoring the water conditions; however, the algae is most prevalent during long, warm weather periods.
We have conducted an assessment of the pond, consulted with experts and reviewed our options including investigating short term solutions; however they are not feasible at this time mostly due to requiring various agencies approvals such as Alberta Environment.

Morinville, AB – Morinville’s annual Canada Day celebration is just over two weeks away. The July 1 event is a significant community celebration in Morinville.
Event organizers regret to announce that, as with the 2018 Lite Up the Nite festival, a safe and secure site for the fireworks display has still not been located, and they have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Canada Day fireworks show.
