This new apparatus provides the highest degree in safety design, efficiencies in power, emissions and technical components will enhance service delivery and allow the Department to better respond to a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency incidents in the region.
The Push-In Ceremony will take place:
Date: Friday, November 25
Time: 3:15 p.m.*
Location: Don Found Fire Hall – 10021 100 Street, Morinville
*Note: The Engine will stop at Morinville Town Hall (10125 100 Avenue) to pick up Mayor Simon Boersma and Chief Administrative Officer Naleen Narayan to transport them to the ceremony.
The Push-In Ceremony is a tradition dating back to the late 1800s when fire departments used hand-drawn pumpers and horse-drawn equipment. Upon returning to the station after a fire call, the horses could not easily back the equipment into the station. The firefighters work as a team to push the engine into the bay by hand. Now, in honour of those early crews, many fire departments hold a push-in ceremony when taking delivery of a new apparatus, often inviting community members to celebrate the exciting moment their tax dollars helped make possible.
The Morinville Fire Department thanks the community for the support and is proud to be equipped with the new engine to continue to keep residents safe. The community is welcome to attend the ceremony,
