Throughout the year, the Town of Morinville provides Waste Programs Initiatives to enhance the waste management program. Following are initiatives that are currently being offered:

Reuse it or "Loose it"!

Fall Event - 10th Event

Date: September 22, 2018 (One-day only!)
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (item drop off starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.)
Location: Skyline Ball Diamonds (10510-107 St.)

Spring Event

Date: May 2019 (One-day only!)
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: To be determined.

Residents are invited to set "loose" items no longer wanted or needed (but still use-able) by bringing them to a central location for others to browse through and take home, FREE OF CHARGE, on a first come first served basis. This event lessens our environmental impact by sending less to the landfill, while at the same time gives local families access to items they might otherwise not be able to afford. Additionally the event clears space in our garages and keeps our community cleaner. The Town provides a removal service for residents with disabilities or mobility issues. Please contact Public Works for more information 780-939-2590.

Household Hazardous Waste Round Up

Date: September 22, 2018
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Sturgeon County Centre (9613-100St.)

Morinville and Sturgeon County are partnering up to host an annual Household Hazardous Waste Round Up. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the event to rid your homes of hazardous materials requiring special handling, disposing of them in an environmentally friendly manner. Hazardous Waste includes products that are corrosive, flammable, explosive, toxic or poisonous. This event is free of charge and will divert hazardous substances from the landfill site. For safety purposes and identification please keep all materials in their original containers. If the container is cracked or broken, place it in a leak-proof package and label it. Download a list of Household Hazardous Waste Disposable Items accepted at the Round Up. Please contact Public Works for more information 780-939-2590.

If residents are unable to attend the event they can visit one of the three Eco Stations in Edmonton, which accept all items collected at the Town’s Household Hazardous Waste Round Up and more. Visit the City of Edmonton’s Eco Station webpage for more information and hours of operation.

Christmas Tree Collection

From December 27, 2018 until the middle of January, Public Works staff will monitor the boulevards for discarded trees. All tinsel, decorations, and plastic bags must be removed from the tree prior to collection. Place trees lying flat on the ground (not planted in the snowbank) near the curb ensuring sidewalks are not blocked.
