Stephen Dafoe was born in Belleville, Ontario and moved to Hinton, Alberta, in 2002. He and his wife Bonnie moved to Morinville in 2006.
Dafoe worked as a magician/comedian for many years, a pursuit he started as a hobby when he was 13.
He is the author, co-author or contributor to more than a dozen books, primarily on medieval history. Those books led to Dafoe appearing in three television documentaries on the subject.
His interest in writing kept him in and around the publishing industry for the past 25 years, running information websites, publishing magazines, small press book runs and currently as the owner of Morinville Online - MorinvilleNews.com and Soaring Pig Studios, a video production company.
In his third term on Council, Dafoe has served as chair of the Northern Lights Library System, Roseridge Landfill Commission and the EMRB's Solid Waste Collaborative.
Dafoe enjoys cooking and good single malt scotch.
