Water Conservation
Voluntary Odd-Even Watering Program
With the low amount of snowfall received this past winter and the subsequent minimal runoff and rainfall this spring, it is anticipated that demands on the regional customers' supply systems throughout the metropolitan Edmonton area will be higher than normal and that there may be difficulties in satisfying everyone's needs. To assist with the upcomig spring/summer high demand period, the Town of Morinville is calling upon all residents and businesses to adopt an odd/even watering immediately. This practice would allow residents whose street address is an odd number to water lawns on odd numbered days and vice versa.
Please keep in mind that only one inch of water per week is required to maintain a healthy lawn. Furthermore, lawns should only be watered either early morning or late evening to avoid water loss through evaporation and to prevent "burning" of the lawn. There are pamphlets located at Town Office reception to provide further information on things you can do to save water - both indoors and outdoors from showering to ecoscaping. Follow the link below for additional information on water conservation and related strategies to reduce water consumption.
Should any additional measures be required to reduce water consumption over the summer, notifications will be sent out as soon as it becomes a necessity. Please help in conserving water by adhering to this voluntary request at this time.
