Regional Recreation Facility Master Plan

Municipalities within Sturgeon County (Morinville, Redwater, Legal, Bon Accord, Gibbons, and Sturgeon County) formed the Sturgeon Regional Partnership in 2009 to explore opportunities for these communities to work together. The need for a Regional Recreation Master Plan was identified as one opportunity that would contribute to essential long term planning to examine the delivery of recreation programs and services across the region and the capital infrastructure requirements associated with these services over the next 25 years. Click here for more details and to view the Regional Recreation Facility Master Plan.

Street Sweeping

Public Works began the annual street sweeping program on May 9, 2013.  Signs are placed at the entrances to neighborhoods in advance of cleaning equipment moving into the area.  Please help us do our job efficiently by not parking on the streets during this period.  Also remove curb ramps, basketball nets and any other objects from your street.  Weather permitting street sweeping will be completed by May 17th.

Thank you for your patience.

Date:  May 18, 2013
Time:  8:00 am - 12:00 noon (1/2 day only)
Location:  Public Works Shop 10310-107 St (in the old Recycle Yard)
The Town of Morinville is offering "ready to use" compost to residents free of charge. A loader and operator will be available for residents with a pickup truck, otherwise residents must be able to load the compost themselves.  There will be a limit of one truck load or equivalent per resident.  Those who wish to participate must present proof of residency; your utility bill with photo ID is acceptable.  Participants will also be required to sign a damage waiver.  For more information please call Public Works at 780-939-2590.

"Reuse it or Loose it"

Morinville is implementing a new initiative called "Reuse it or Loose it!" where unwanted items from residents will be set "loose" and brought to a central location for others to browse through and take home, free of charge, for reuse.  This initiative will lessen our environmental footprint by giving people the opportunity to reuse unwanted items rather than disposing of them at the landfill.
Date:  Saturday May 25 - Sunday May 26
Time: 4:00 pm May 25 until noon on May 26
Location:  Ray McDonald Arena

Residents can bring their unwanted items to the Morinville arena parking lot any time after 4pm on May 25th.  Residents will then have until noon on Sunday May 26th to take home items they wish to reuse.  More information will be provided in your May utility bill. Remember to stop by the tracking station before you leave with your free items so we can gauge how much we're keeping out of the landfill.  There will be tables set up with signs, so stop by on your way out please. Click here for more information.
