Canada Day Fireworks: This year Canada Day Fireworks will be set off at a new location – the Ray McDonald (RMD) Sports Center field area. Fireworks will once again be set off to a low to mid-level range, so residents are advised to move as close to the RMD as possible. A seating area will be adjacent to the Arena rear parking lot, close to the volleyball courts.
Waste Collection Services: All of the new GFL waste containers have been delivered to all areas of Morinville. There are a few homes where bins were not out and GFL has those addresses and will be coming around until all have the new containers. If your green waste container has not been switched to a grey one after June 14, pelase call Public Works at 780.939.2590.
Sports Field Hotline: Call the Sports Field Hotline at 780.939.6635 for soccer, slow-pitch and minor baseball field updates. The hotline is upldated as needed. For bookings & inquiries, please contact Community Services at 780.939.7839.
LED Street Lights: Fortis Alberta has received approval to proceed with LED Streetlight Conversions in Morinville. Approximately 855 lights will be converted from HPS to LED technology and construction was expected to begin June 14. Installation completion should be done by June 23. More details here.
At the March 28 Council Meeting, significant decisions were made regarding the Morinville Regional Recreation Complex. Stantec also presented a number of slides, including a conceptual rendering of the external of the facility. 2017 Toilet Rebate Program: Morinville is offering a rebate to residents, rental properties and business owners to encourage the replacement of old and inefficient toilets with low-flush or dual-flush toilets to reduce water consumption. The program is retroactive to January 1, 2017. Access complete details including program requirements and application form.
