Morinville Festival Days returns to Morinville June 17 and 18
Morinville, Alta. - Morinville Festival Days 2023 is a weekend full of traditional, new and diverse programming. The annual event remains a celebration of community, family, and culture with variety to appeal to all ages.
In addition to many free, traditional family-friendly activities on both Saturday and Sunday, we have added a few new events. New for this year’s festival, is an Indigenous Art Experience and A Candy Carnival, presented by Bantle’s Candy Corner, both activities will take place at the Festival Fun Zones, presented by Putnam Law LLP.
Also new for 2023, is an 18+ licensed concert featuring Jersey Boulevard, a Journey & Bon Jovi tribute band. Jersey Boulevard is a multi-tribute band that brings the excitement of Bon Jovi and Journey's original live show to life. This stellar rock show will be memorable for years to come and will also feature a happy hour, photo booth and food truck. Tickets are still available.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel the midway. Wild Rose Shows is currently working with Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Ride Safety Association (AEDARSA) to recertify their equipment and safety processes, due to recent safety incidents that took place at another local community festival. The group is in communication with the Town of Morinville on their progress and looks forward to future successful operations.
Some highlights of the weekend schedule include:
- Council’s Free Pancake Breakfast featuring live entertainment
- NAPA Morinville Show & Shine
- Morinville Fire Fighter Combat Challenge presented by Cattail Crossing Golf and Winter Club
- Festival Fun Zones, presented by Putnam Law LLP features a variety of free all-ages entertainment and activities both Saturday and Sunday
- "Kiddie Commando" obstacle course & military vehicle displays hosted by the Edmonton Garrison
- Sunrise to Sunset Create-a-Thon & Art Sale hosted by the Morinville Art Club
- Scavenger Hunt at the Musée Morinville Museum
- The Morinville Farmer’s Market will be operating both Saturday and Sunday
- NEW The Father’s House Movie Day & Summer Fun Party
“Without a midway, the festival will continue to deliver a great weekend,” says Kathleen Ducharme, Events and Programs Coordinator. “We know the midway will be missed at the festival this year, but it was important for us to exercise extra caution for the community to ensure a fun and safe weekend for all. The festival schedule still offers wonderful variety, and we are excited about the new activities, returning events and have an amazing team of sponsors, partners and volunteers ready to provide two awesome days of fun for the community!”
