Morinville's Lite Up the Nite Christmas Festival returns

Morinville, Alta. – Get in the holiday spirit and join us for our annual Lite Up the Nite Christmas Festival November 24 to 26. This three-day event is a celebration of family, community and the holiday season. This festival is made possible through the support of many community organizations, local businesses, and proudly supported by 840 CFCW, Alberta’s Country Legend.

The much anticipated Lite Up the Nite Parade will be part of the festivities and a large community group and business presence is hoped for. Participation in the parade is open to any business, not-for-profit or community group. Those interested must complete an application form by the end of the day on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Following the parade and Lite Up the Park is the annual fireworks show which will start at a new time of 7:30 p.m. The 30 minute later start time will allow attendees to make their way to the viewing spot of their choice to enjoy the incredible high-level fireworks show that can be enjoyed from nearly anywhere within town limits.

Kick off the weekend on Friday, November 24, at the Lite Up the Nite Dance Party, proudly presented by McDonalds, Morinville. Dress festive or fun with Christmas jammies or sweaters, anything red or green or your holiday best. Bring a donation of a new, unwrapped toy for the Ronald McDonald House Magic Room. Receive a great giveaway* from McDonald’s, Morinville, plus enjoy a snack concession, free glowsticks*, glitter tattoos* and a holiday photo booth. This is a free ticketed event. Tickets are required for everyone in attendance. While tickets are free, attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy donation to support the Ronald McDonald House Magic Room. Advance tickets for the dance are now available to Morinville and Sturgeon County residents over the age of 16. Tickets are available to the general public beginning Thursday, November 9 at the MCCC box office, during regular operating hours or online. Tickets are limited to 8 tickets per household, with proof of residency, while quantities last.

“This is always an exciting time for the community. We know they look forward to many traditional activities like the parade and fireworks, but we hope they enjoy the newer additions such as the Lite Up the Nite Dance Party and the variety of fun and entertainment at A Festive Family Festival, proudly presented by FortisAlberta,” explains Kathleen Ducharme, Events and Programs Coordinator. “We work hard along with our sponsors and partners, community groups and volunteers to put on a great weekend for the community.”
