Personal Training Services

Personal Training Services are offered at the Morinville Leisure Centre. 

Our qualified Personal Trainers will help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Trainers will develop an effective and personalized fitness program complete with support, motivation and progressions to help you remain committed to your goals. Train one-on-one or brings your friend(s), family or colleagues and train as a small group. Large group/Sport Team Dryland training for groups or teams is also available. View our Fitness Services Brochure for information on sessions, fees and services.

Please visit us in-person or call Guest Services at the MLC at (780) 939-3450 to book your sessions and start training towards your goals today! Participants are required to complete the Get Active Questionnaire and Waiver prior to booking with a Personal Trainer.

Large Group/Sport Team Dryland Personal Training (5–25 people)

Whether preseason, postseason or during the season, prepare and improve your team’s performance with personalized dryland training! These training sessions include sport specific training and fitness assessment with a qualified personal trainer. A minimum of 4 sessions must be booked.

Whether you are a serious lifter looking for "gains" or you just want to feel confident in the fitness centre, our Mini Small Group Personal Training sessions are a great way to learn or fine-tune your workouts. You'll learn in a group of 3 to 4 people, with lots of personal attention. 

Mini Personal Training Session Descriptions

Perfecting your Squat 
Improve your squat technique to ensure that your lifting mechanics are on point. This 3-session program will explore optimal alignment at the feet, knees, hips and spine and ensuring muscle engagement and correct breathing technique. Clients will be shown squat variations using hand weights, kettlebells, barbells, the Smith machine, and the squat racks. Clients will have a personalized squat program and confidence to squat to meet their specific training goals.

Perfecting your Bench Press
The bench press is a fundamental lift that focuses on the pectoral muscles typically using hand weights or a barbell. This 3-session program will explore optimal alignment of the wrists, elbows, shoulder girdle and spine to increase performance and reduce injury/discomfort. Clients will learn exercise variations using different bench positions, the Smith machine and racks, as well as spotting techniques. A personalized bench press program will be created for each participant.

Perfecting your Deadlift
The deadlift is a fundamental lift that takes time and patience to perfect. Technique, concentric and eccentric lift phases, muscle recruitment, posture and alignment all factor into a well-executed deadlift. Clients will explore various grips, use of the hex-bar, barbell, platform, hand weights and kettlebells. A personalized deadlift program will be created for each participant.

Optimal Shoulder Training
Understanding movement mechanics of the shoulder girdle and the uniqueness of your body is important when developing an effective shoulder program. Whether you want to just move pain-free or increase your size, this 3-session program will teach you a number of different exercises to train all three heads of your deltoids. You'll explore various equipment options including hand weights, barbells, cables, tubing and kettlebells. You will have a personalized shoulder program to help you accomplish your training goals.

Optimal Core Training
A strong functional core is needed at every stage of life for pain-free movement, powerful lifts, and confident posture. This 3-session program will explore training all the muscles of the core including internal and external abdominals, muscles that stabilize and support the spine, as well as exercises that promote safe spinal flexion, extension and rotation. You will use portable equipment, body weight and the cables to create your personalized core training program.

What is a Fitness Consultation?

A Fitness Consultation is an opportunity to meet with a certified Fitness Trainer and receive an individualized workout program that will meet your specific health and fitness goals.

1:1 bookings include a consultation and program design. This appointment takes approximately 60-90 minutes to complete, and includes an active component.

Participants are required to complete the Get Active Questionnaire and Waiver prior to their Fitness Consultation. Please bring the completed documents to your appointment. If any responses are "YES" on the Questionnaire, please call Guest Services at (780) 939-3450 before your appointment for further information and instructions.

Fitness Orientations
Fitness Orientations
What is a Fitness Orientation?

The Fitness Orientation is an opportunity for members to receive a generalized introduction to the Fitness Centre, Track, Field House and fitness equipment. The Fitness Orientation includes an overview of all rules and etiquette, all cardiovascular equipment and primary sectorized strength training equipment. Fitness Orientations are mandatory for youth between the ages of 12 and 15 years old.

  • When using the Fitness Centre youth ages 12-13 must be supervised by someone 18+.
  • Youth under 16 years of age are not permitted to use free weights.
  • Once a youth has completed the Fitness Orientation, they will be given a shoe tag. This shoe tag must be visible when using the fitness equipment at MLC to indicate successful completion of the Fitness Orientation.
  • Fitness Orientations are FREE for all MLC members.

Participants are required to complete a Waiver prior to participation in the Fitness Orientation, and those 12 - 17 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian 18+ endorse the waiver.
