The Morinville Leisure Centre (MLC) is a multi-purpose recreation facility that has a variety of amenities. We're thrilled to welcome you to the facility!

The multi-purpose Field House is located on the main floor of the MLC. It has a boarded surface with sport flooring that can be divided into three courts. Each court is the size of a basketball court. The courts can be used individually by using the separator curtains or combined to provide a large playing surface. The courts are for spontaneous use, drop-in programs, registered programs or are also available for private bookings. The field house can accommodate a variety of sports including:

  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Badminton
  • Pickleball
  • Floor hockey

There are also 5 dressing rooms and a referee room.

Guidelines

  • Please ensure proof of payment wristband is visible at all times.
  • Play safely and respect other user groups and activities.
  • Play and Spontaneous use should be inclusive of all persons wanting to participate. Please be considerate when others are waiting to play by rotating others into play.
  • Belongings are not permitted on the courts. Protect your belongings by securing them in a locker and locking your dressing room. Lockers are located in the Field House hallway and outside the Fitness Centre. The Town of Morinville is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items.
  • Lockers are for day use only and contents must be removed by the end of the day. Any locks left on lockers overnight will be cut off and the contents brought to Guest Services.
  • Clean, respectful and appropriate clothing is required, including upper body attire.
  • Clean and dry fitness appropriate shoes which fully enclose the foot are required.
  • No food or beverages are permitted in the Field House or dressing rooms, with the exception of water in a non-breakable, sealable container.
  • Fitness and sports equipment are available for daily use. Please return your equipment at the end of your visit. Equipment that is returned damaged due to misuse may be subject to a replacement fee.
  • Spectators are not permitted on the Track or Field House main floor and must observe from the designated viewing areas.
  • Music may only be played publicly by the facility or rental groups. Music must be at an appropriate volume, for all ages and must not compete with the music within the facility.
  • Organized games and team practices are not allowed during spontaneous play time. Rental of the court space can be used to accommodate this activity only. Please see Guest Services.
  • This is a scent free environment.
  • THIS IS AN UNSUPERVISED AREA.

  • Wipe down equipment with the disinfectant wipes provided after use.

Age restrictions

  • Children under 8 years must be actively supervised at all times by a responsible individual 13 years or older.
  • Children aged 6-13 are permitted on the track if they are actively supervised by a responsible individual 18 years of age and older.
  • The equipment in the track corners is open to those 12 years of age and older. Youth ages 12-15 may use the track and equipment in the track corners only after having completed the Fitness Orientation program.

The Landrex Arena is located on the main floor of the MLC. The NHL sized ice surface has spectator seating for 437. There are four dressing rooms, a referee room and two premier dressing rooms adjacent to the ice. The arena can be booked all year for either ice in or dry surface.

  • Helmets are required for all those under 18 years of age, and strongly recommended for those 18 and older.
  • Spectators are not permitted on the Arena main floor and must observe from the designated viewing areas.
  • Teams must warm up in designated areas only.
  • Music may only be played publicly by the facility or rental groups. Music must be at an appropriate volume, for all ages and must not compete with the music within the facility.
  • The MLC is an alcohol, drug and smoke free building. Smoking of any kind is not permitted within 5 meters of the front doors or any intake system.
  • This is a scent free environment.

Age restrictions

  • Children under 8 years must be actively supervised on the ice at all times by a responsible individual 16 years or older.

The track is located on the main floor and surrounds the field house. The 200m, three-lane track can be used for walking and running and will accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.

  • Children aged 6-13 are permitted on the track if they are actively supervised by a responsible individual 18 years of age and older.
  • The equipment in the track corners is open to those 12 years of age and older. Youth ages 12-15 may use the track and equipment in the track corners only after having completed the Fitness Orientation program.

The Fitness Centre is located on the upper floor of the MLC. It has a variety of equipment from cable machines and cardio equipment to free weights. There are lockers and a changing bench located outside the Fitness Centre entrance. There are three universal changing stalls available.

  • Protect your belongings by securing them in a locker. Limited lockers are located in the Field House hallway and outside the Fitness Centre. The Town of Morinville is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items.
  • Lockers are for day use only and contents must be removed by the end of the day. Any locks left on lockers overnight will be cut off and the contents brought to Guest Services.
  • Clean, respectful and appropriate clothing is required, including upper body attire.
  • Clean and dry fitness appropriate shoes which fully enclose the foot are required.
  • If using gloves, please ensure they are visibly clean.
  • No food or beverages permitted in the Fitness Centre, with the exception of water in a non-breakable, sealable container.
  • The use of chalk is not permitted.
  • Music may not be played publicly in this space for personal use. Please use headphones.
  • Public drop-in access is intended for recreational use; any external personal or group training/coaching is strictly prohibited.
  • Equipment is not to be taken out of the Fitness Centre.
  • This is a scent free environment.
  • THIS IS AN UNSUPERVISED AREA.

Etiquette

  • Please use the hand sanitizer provided.
  • Refrain from dropping the weights.
  • Unload equipment and return weights to proper location after use.
  • Wipe down all equipment with the disinfectant wipes provided after use including the dumbbells, handles and plates.
  • Please be considerate when others are waiting and allow others to work in.
  • Shirts/upper body attire are required at all times in the fitness centre.
  • 30-minute maximum on cardio machines during peak hours and usage.

Age restrictions

  • Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the Fitness Centre.
  • Youth aged 12-15 are permitted to use the fitness equipment after having completed the Teen Gym 101. 
  • Once a youth has completed the Teen Gym 101, they will be given a shoe tag. This shoe tag must be visible when using the fitness equipment at MLC to indicate successful completion of the Fitness Orientation.
  • Youth under the age of 16 years are not permitted to use free weights.

 

The Atlas Builder Buddies Play Space, sponsored by Atlas Premium Home Development, is located on the main floor of the MLC. It has a variety of small, portable play features. This area is recommended for children under eight years and will hold up to 25 people.

The two multi-purpose meeting rooms are located on the main floor of the MLC, the Atlas Premium Home Room and the Sturgeon County Room. They are equipped with folding tables and chairs. They hold between 15 and 30 people. The meeting rooms are available for meetings, birthday parties and other small group activities.

The Pembina Atrium, sponsored by Pembina Pipeline Corporation, welcomes you to the MLC. Whether you are waiting for a friend to work out, or simply stopping in to pick up the kids from a practice, you can enjoy a small nook or tables and chairs near the concession.

We are committed to a fun, safe, and healthy facility. Help us maintain a positive experience by following the Facility Guidelines and respecting other visitors and staff.

  • Please pay your admission or scan your pass to receive a wristband. Wristbands must be visible at all times in proof of payment areas.
  • There may be a $5.00 fee for replacement of lost or stolen membership cards.
  • Protect your belongings by securing them in a locker. Lockers are located in the Field House hallway and outside the Fitness Centre. Please bring your own lock. The Town of Morinville is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items.
  • Lockers are for day use only and contents must be removed by end of day. Any locks left on lockers overnight will be cut off and contents of the locker brought to Guest Services.
  • To maintain all patrons comfort, safety and overall cleanliness of the building, appropriate indoor footwear and attire is required.
  • Sports equipment is available for daily use. Please return your equipment when finished. Equipment that is returned damaged due to misuse may be subject to a replacement fee.
  • Food and beverages are only permitted in designated areas. Water is permitted throughout the building provided it is in a non-breakable, sealable container.
  • The MLC is an alcohol, drug and smoke free building. Smoking of any kind is not permitted within 5 meters of the front doors or any intake system.
  • Public drop-in access is intended for recreational use; any external personal or group training/coaching is prohibited.
  • Service Animals are welcome. Pets are not permitted.
  • Skateboarding, cycling, in-line, or roller skating is not permitted inside the facility.
  • Use of cellular phones, cameras, and other recording devices is restricted in Town of Morinville Facilities. With staff permission, these devices are permitted for taking photos and videos in public areas - excluding change areas and washrooms. Taking photos or videos in locker rooms and washrooms is against the law.
  • Surveillance cameras may be operating in this facility to deter and/or detect criminal activity and for public safety. The collection of recorded camera image is authorized under Section 33C of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).
