Shuttle Service for Seniors 55+

The Town of Morinville is excited to be providing a Pilot Shuttle Service for Seniors 55+. Running from April to December 2023 to a variety of venues.

Cost to ride 
$10+gst per person

What does my fee include? 
Fee includes transportation only. Any additional costs acquired at the location are the responsibility of the rider.

How do I register?
You can register two ways:
1) In-person at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre and the Morinville Leisure Centre
2) Call 780-939-7839

What if I use a mobility device?
The bus has room for two wheelchairs and room to store walkers on the bus.

What if I travel with a support person?
Register yourself and we will contact you for further information.

Enrollment Cancellation Policy
Transportation fees will be refunded up to 72 hours prior to the program start time. No refunds will be issued for cancellation notice with less than 72 hours notice, unless for medical reasons.

Bus Rental Service for Seniors 55+

The Town of Morinville is excited to be providing a pilot bus rental service for seniors 55+. This service will be available from April 2023 to September 2023.

What is the Pilot Pilot Bus Rental Service for Seniors 55+?
The bus rental is available for groups of seniors 55+ who would like to rent a charter bus for a specific event that is not included in the Shuttle Service for Seniors.

What is the cost of the Pilot Bus Rental Service for Seniors?
The cost of renting a charter bus would be full cost recovery to the renter. Depending on the location and duration of the trip, the cost will fluctuate. This service is available on a first come first serve basis. Cancelation fees will apply.

The Town of Morinville may be able to subsidize a portion of the bus rental fee. Please contact our Community Development Supervisor, by email or call 780-939-7834 for details.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is recognized globally on June 15 each year. For resources and support, please visit the Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council.
International Day of Older Persons
Each year, we commemorate “International Day of Older Persons” on October 1.

In Home Support Programs

Developed to help seniors 65+ live safely and securely in their homes. The program provides snow removal, basic lawn care and housekeeping assistance. Email your completed application to Seniors' Programmer.In Home Support Program application 

Snow Removal

  • Open from November 1 to April 1.
  • Removal of snow only and may include light chipping of packed snow from driveways and sidewalks, but no chipping of ice.
  • Proof of residency and proof of income are required to qualify for subsidy.
Lawn Care
  • Open from May 1 to October 1.
  • Basic lawn care and edging of property. This does not include removal of animal waste, weeding gardens or planting flowers.
  • Proof of residency and proof of income are required to qualify for subsidy.

Housekeeping Services

  • Open from January 1 to December 31 (week days only; no service on statutory holidays).
  • Light housekeeping and deep cleaning services can be provided.
  • Proof of residency and proof of income are required to quality for subsidy.

Information & Referral

Is about connecting our residents with the resources that can help them address their individual needs.

This free and confidential service provides:

  • Assistance in completing government forms,
  • Referrals to services in community, provincial or federal options,
  • Referrals to organizations and agencies like 211 for additional supports, and
  • Referrals specific to 55+ residents like meal and food service programs, health supports, medical services and safety concerns.
